Santiago, November 5, 2024 – Desarrollo País S.A., a state-owned company, has successfully concluded the public bidding process for the “Preliminary and Detailed Design, Engineering, and Specialties for Public Transport Passenger Terminals.” After a rigorous evaluation process, the contract was awarded to IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture S.A., which will be responsible for developing the necessary designs to support the construction and operation of modern transport terminals across various regions in Chile.
This initiative aims to enhance urban transport infrastructure by acquiring and developing bus terminals in key locations throughout the country. The project will optimize terminal operations, improve intermodal connectivity, and enhance mobility, ultimately benefiting thousands of daily commuters.
In total, nine bus terminals will be developed from north to south Chile, incorporating both traditional and electric buses. IDOM Consulting, Engineering, Architecture S.A. will oversee the architectural and engineering design to ensure all necessary infrastructure is in place for the seamless operation of these terminals.
“This project is a significant step toward modernizing Chile’s public transport infrastructure,” said Patricio Rey, CEO of Desarrollo País. “It will substantially improve terminal standards and their integration with urban environments. This contract award brings us closer to a more efficient, sustainable, and well-connected transport system.”
He also emphasized that IDOM submitted the most technically qualified proposal and offered a competitive price. “Their robust design methodology and experience in key project areas, such as traffic impact mitigation and environmental assessments, made them the top choice.”
The bidding process attracted participation from a diverse group of individuals and companies, all of whom were required to sign a Letter of Intent and a Confidentiality Agreement to access bidding documents and attend site visits and consultation rounds.
Through this project, Desarrollo País reaffirms its commitment to modernizing public infrastructure and optimizing state resources, creating high-quality transport hubs that improve urban connectivity and enhance the daily lives of Chilean citizens.
